A three-day Art and Craft Exhibition opened on Friday at Punjab Kala Bhavan, Sector 16, bringing together creativity, tradition, and modern artistic expression under one roof. Kala Fusion organized the exhibition in collaboration with Social Substance, with more than 50 artists from diverse backgrounds participating.

Dignitaries Inaugurate the Event

Ravinder Sharma, Vice Chairman of the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. Renowned author Reena Chopra attended as the guest of honor, while Gurdip Dhiman, President of the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, joined as the special guest. The dignitaries appreciated the artists for their dedication, originality, and creative vision.

Blend of Contemporary Art Forms

Artists showcased a wide range of artworks, including acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings that reflected vibrant colours and deep emotions. Digital artworks, mini canvas paintings, and alcohol ink art highlighted contemporary techniques and modern artistic experimentation.

Celebration of Traditional and Folk Art

The exhibition also featured an impressive display of traditional and folk art forms. Visitors admired sculptures, crochet art, Lippan art, mandala art, painted stones, painted bottles, and creatively designed plant pots. Artist Bhalla Sood drew special attention by transforming everyday objects such as glass bottles, earthen cups (kulhads), and stones into striking pieces of art. Meanwhile, artist Rohan expressed unspoken emotions through his evocative bird-themed paintings.

Young Artists Steal the Spotlight

The exhibition proudly presented the work of two of the youngest artists—six-year-old Mahira Kaur and fourth-grade student Govind Singh—who received warm appreciation for their exceptional talent. Mahira’s aunt, Puneet Madan, shared that Mahira has been painting since the age of three. The siblings have also previously showcased their artwork at an exhibition in Canada.

Overall, the exhibition offers art lovers a unique opportunity to explore diverse art forms and experience creativity in its many expressions, making it a must-visit cultural event in the city.
