City Pays Tribute to Brave Veterans on Armed Forces Veterans Day

The city observed the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day with reverence and respect on Wednesday at Sector-38 Mahila Bhawan. The event honoured and remembered the bravery, valour, and sacrifices of Armed Forces veterans who laid down their lives in defence of the nation and those who dedicated themselves to national service. The District Sainik Welfare Office, UT Chandigarh, organised the programme.

Chief Secretary H. Rajesh Prasad attended the event as the chief guest and addressed the gathering. He urged veterans and Veer Naris to prioritise their health and well-being and encouraged them to remain a source of inspiration for the youth in nation-building. The organisers honoured Veer Naris and recipients of gallantry and distinguished service medals on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Sainik Board, Nishant Kumar Yadav, warmly welcomed the veterans during the programme.

District Sainik Welfare Officer, former Colonel Harjeet Singh Ghuman, delivered the welcome address, felicitated the veterans, and highlighted their unparalleled contributions and sacrifices for the nation.
