Prof. Karamjeet Singh Honoured with Punjab Rattan Award

The Punjab Kala Parishad Chandigarh, in a magnificent announcement, has proclaimed that Professor Karamjeet Singh will receive the much-desired Punjab Rattan Award this year. Meanwhile, literary luminary Bachint Kaur will be awarded the Mother Tongue Honour in recognition of her outstanding service to Punjabi literature and culture.

The committee decided this during a meeting held at Punjab Kala Bhawan in Sector-16, Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of the Parishad. The Parishad will present the awards as part of a grand cultural celebration planned for February 2026 to recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to arts, language, literature, and education.

Punjab Rattan Award to Prof. Karamjeet Singh.

The Punjab Kala Parishad has selected Prof. Karamjeet Singh, an eminent scholar and cultural personality, for the Punjab Rattan Award, one of the state’s highest honours for excellence in the cultural and educational fields. The award recognises his lifetime contributions as a writer and scholar, as well as his sustained efforts to promote Punjab’s rich heritage at both national and international levels.

His work as an academic and teacher of young intellectuals and his struggle to maintain the Punjabi literary works have won him a lot of admiration and respect.

Paying tribute to literary excellence: Bachint Kaur.

Bachint Kaur will also receive the Mother Tongue Honor, along with The Punjab Rattan Award on top of this. As a well-known author, the literary works written by Bachint Kaur have contributed to Punjabi literature and narration. She has made a significant contribution to the cause of mother tongue in literature, and this work has encouraged a new breed of writers and readers within the Punjabi literary fraternity.

Other Cultural Honors Declared.

Other outstanding cultural award winners were also disclosed through the Parishad:

  • Gurmanjan Gill

The Parishad will award these personalities the Gaurav Honour for their exemplary contributions to various artistic fields, including art, cinema, literature, and cultural expression.

Festival of Arts Planned for February.

The award will be presented at an even bigger cultural festival of Punjab Kala Parishad starting in February 2026. The festival will entail various activities that will include:

Seminars and panel discussions.

  • Screening of movies and theater shows.
  • Literary sessions

Symposia dedicated to the life works of recipients. One-day special symposiums.

These events aim to celebrate Punjabi culture, foster creative dialogue, and inspire future generations.
